G. A. R. WILL CONDUCT GORDON FUNERAL RITES -----
Civil War Veteran Succumbs Friday After Several Months’ Illness. -----
Funeral services for James Gordon, 89, G. A. R. veteran, who died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at his home, 1501 North Grant street, following several months’ illness, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hyatt’s Mortuary chapel, with the Rev. Henry Kreulen officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge cemetery, with services at the grave under the auspices of the G. A. R.
Mr. Gordon was honored by the Bay County Historical society for having lived long in the county of any of his fellow veterans – 65 years. He was born Nov. 4, 1843, in Lansing.
Surviving, besides the widow, Luella, whom he married here 37 years ago, are three sons, Harry, Tawas City; Levi, at home, and Harvey, this city; one daughter, Mrs. George LaFond, this city; 17 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
